With the increasing influx of tourist into Matheran Hill Station due to its proximity to Mumbai and Pune, and location constraints such as closely spaced contour and dense trees, Matehran is facing an increase in parking problems. To address this, Matheran Hill Station Municipal Council wishes to conceive and implement an improved parking site at Dasturi Car Park. Therefore a Detailed Project Report for improvement of Dasturi Car Park site is being prepared.
The approach towards the project was to ensure and design parking area for maximum number of vehicles, with emphasis on safeguarding the natural elements within the site. Matheran being an eco- sensitive zone it was mandatory to keep all the trees intact and yet provide parking. This has been carried out through detailed survey and analysis of parking and total vehicle count surveys. Further concept plan have been provided.
